Look at this awesome silver packaging! What can be inside? Where is it from?

Tada! It’s a chainmail bracelet from Mphosis.

I think chainmail is going to be big this coming year. Take my word for it. I have this arcane knack of coveting things that ultimately become utterly sought after (and then mass-produced to the point it makes me want to retch). For example a couple of months ago last year I really really wanted a vintage tapestry kiss-lock clutch. I looked high and low for it, even turning to the Internet, but I just couldn’t find one that blows my mind. Somehow on my recent shopping trips I’ve been seeing more and more of it being made and sold, but they are fugly. And I’ve since stopped coveting it. Oh well, I digress.

I dig my chainmail bracelet. And guess what? It’s inexpensive at only $9.90. :D

Pazzion Haul

There are days when a girl just need to get new shoes. No I don’t mean getting new shoes FOR a special occasion, but just days when buying shoes is imperative for psychological wellbeing. Today just happens to be one of those days for me.

This is my first time buying shoes from Pazzion. I used to scoff at their name. I still do. But I happened to spot a pair of amazing shoes when I passed by their Wisma Atria outlet and I feel in love.

This is not the coup de grâce pair but it is absolutely gorgeous. I have a thing for croc-imprinted leather (just like how I have a thing for leopard prints). I got this pair in black, it’s understated yet still has a little personality.

Now, the deathblow. The pair of shoes that had my heart palpitate and my feet tingling in joy.

A pair of stilettos with a platform front. I adore the rubber grip at the bottom of the shoe. You know how I am very particular with non-slippery shoes. This pair fits the bill twice over. I love stilettos, but recently I’ve come to realize regular stilettos don’t seem to be very stable nor nice to walk in. That is until I discovered platform front stilettos. These shoes, for me, are incredible stable and easy to walk in. When I try on such shoes I feel like I was born to be in heels.

These shoes can give me the height without compromising stability and comfort. Love, love, love.

Shoe Fetish

I have a mild shoe fetish and I went on a shoe binge recently – I bought 3 pairs of shoes in the month of June, and it’s only the 19th.

Pair #1 – Mitju slip-on heels with basket woven platform, S$29.90

These are quite feminine — I can imagine them on a Japanese housewife with rolled-up jeans, a flowy floral top and a straw hat.

Pair #2 – Tracce faux seude round toebox pumps with hidden heel detai, S$49.90 (look out for 20% discounts!)

It seems patchy in the picture; it’s not so serious in real life. It’s very comfortable and the toe box has enough room for my wide feet so I really like shoes from this brand. This is my fifth pair of shoes from Tracce. So far, I’d say this brand produce good shoes.

Pair #3 – Replay leather ballet flats with sneaker laces, S$109 (got it with giftcards, won’t pay real money for these)

I had giftcards to spend, so I bought this pair of expensive shoes. It seems that Replay is a brand from Italy. These flats are made of leather and suede and they have the cutest soles:

The words read – “I’ll trade this button for a kiss”. Not sure what it’s supposed to mean, but isn’t it adorable? The pastel purple shoes look so young too.

To rationalize my purchase – I have two pairs of shoes to retire because they are in poor condition already. One is torn, the other has its sole coming out, which I have already stuck back on with glue once. So this justifies its retirement. Yes. In essence I’m replacing my retiring shoes plus one more pair. In essence.

But who cares, if the shoe fits, buy it.

Polyvore

Those who are my Facebook friends might have noticed some pictures I posted up named Polyvore Sets. What is Polyvore? Polyvore is a website where fashionistas come together and conceptualize fashion layouts (like a magazine) using existing products found all over the web. Polyvore is American-based, so most of the brands are American ranging from Forever21.com to Marc Jacobs. The site is very active and truth be told, sometimes I think that these women are better than fashion magazine designers and editors in capturing trends and fashion.

I tried my hands at Polyvore too, and here is a showcase of my designs:

Tropical Fall by Wanni Lo featuring Old Navy

This set is special – I own the main pieces such as the purple top, the jeans, the iPod. I have similar pieces to the rest – the pumps, the Coach bag, a flower head pin and sunglasses. This shows how I create and outfit out of what I own.

Fall collection by Wanni Lo featuring Anna Sui

This set is another autumn set I did for one of the contests (but I didn’t win – the others are way ahead of me). It’s very classically autumn hues.

Shane Style by Wanni Lo featuring Alexander McQueen accessories

This set was my first set on Polyvore; it was inspired by Shane McCutcheon from The L Word. See, you can also include pictures of your inspiration, as many of the fabulous designers on Polyvore do. So I gather Polyvore is a fun fashion website where you get to play dressup and virtually shop for clothes based on inspiration. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for no-US Polyvore users, we cannot click on the links of the items to purchase them. That would be a shopping dream (nightmare?) I suppose.

On another note, I will be using Polyvore a lot in future to illustrate what I want to talk about fashion, and how to dress up an item that I find interesting. You can participate and help me by letting me know if you want to see a particular item featured. Say, ask me how to wear a pair of purple trousers or a toga top and I can share with you what I think works.

Fashion Show

Yesterday I went to school bright and early in the morning to help Denise with her fashion show. She took part in the NUSSU fashion design showcase thingy for their crappy bazaar thingy and them being cheapo, did not provide a make-up artist (MUA) so I played MUA for a day for her two models!

A bimbo approach to a zombie issue

I’ve always wondered this whenever I watch zombie films or disaster, apocalyptic films – what should I wear when I’m on the run like them?

I survey several options below:

Alice from Resident Evil. I’m partial to this outfit. The coat will keep me warm at night, and protect me from sun rays and sandstorm. But not sure how they perform in a zombie battle – they might grab hold of it and trap me.

Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. The utility belt looks good, but the shorts are a bit short and hence exposed legs prone to scratches and mosquito bites. Not sure this is a good option.

I don’t know why I included this. There’s no place to keep my weapons and energy bars. Pfftt.

Underworld. The leather bodysuit seems interesting – I can run, swim and possibly fly in it. But it’s a bitch to put it on and take it off. Can’t really shower. Will itch and die inside if I’m somewhere warm. Not terribly feasible.

So it seems a combination of Alice and Lara Croft might work in a zombie situation. Arh.
