Dejavu Fiberwig mascaras

Last Saturday I was invited to join a pre-launch product testing by Dejavu Fiberwig, organized by Fr3b.com.

In this session we tested 3 new products that are yet to be launched namely the Fiberwig Extra Long, Lash Knockout and Lasting Fine. The first two are mascaras and the last one is a crayon eyeliner. As some of you might know, Dejavu mascara has the reputation of being “paint-on false lashes” in that they contain fibre that help to extend natural lashes. I have never tried Dejavu products previously because it sounded too good to be true. However, in this testing session I saw for myself how good it actually is.

The three products provided in the press kit.

The first product, Dejavu Fiberwig Extra Long is a new and improved version of the current Fiberwig mascara. The biggest improvement is the brush – now it is equipped with a curved brush.

I’m not sure if you can see the fibres sticking onto the brush, but when I tried it, I could see lengthening fibres coated on the brush. The interesting thing about this mascara is its unique formula. It coats your lashes with a film instead of depositing black powdered particles like conventional mascaras. It is easily removed with warm water – and it’s true. I tried it myself and it really came off neat and clean with just warm water, making it a fuss-free makeup removal regime after a late night out.

The second product is the Dejavu Lash Knockout, which is a volumizing mascara.

The brush is straight and designed to deposit the mascara onto every lash to pump up the volume. I like this mascara because I have sparse and skinny eyelashes. The Lash Knockout could really volumize my lashes. However, I found that it tended to stick my lashes together.

The final product is a crayon eyeliner, the Dejavu Lasting Fine. It is a twist-out eyeliner and the tip is very fine.

I wished I had a comparison picture but by experience, it’s at most 3/4 the girth of a regular twist-out eyeliner. We were told to try drawing a line on our hand and to rub at it. No smudging, no colour transfer. The line refused to budge. I even tried rubbing at it with a wet cotton pad, it stayed. So for those looking for smudge-free eyeliner, this could be your solution. However, you’d have to remove this with a conventional eye makeup remover instead of just warm water like the mascara. I like the effect it gives, just that I didn’t find it emollient enough to draw easily. It was considerably hard so those who like smooth eyeliners might want to stay away.

Now, it’s time for some before-after comparison shots!

You can easily tell which eye has mascara and eyeliner on. On that eye, I applied Dejavu Lasting Fine and Dejavu Lash Knockout.

This, taken on another day, has only  Fiberwig Extra Long on both eyes.

Another view that makes it A LOT clearer the lengthening effects:

Nice right? ;D

This eye has Dejavu Fiberwig Extra Long as well as Lash Knockout on.

See, If I applied a few more coats my lashes are going to hit my eyebrow. This is no kidding – this stuff is fo’ real.

If you asked me, I feel that the Lash Knockout has a bit of lengthening effect as well, so it’s pretty much a 2-in-1 product for those who do not want excessive length. However, if you want to lengthen your lashes, I’d say go for the Fiberwig Extra Long. Oh and a note, if you apply both, please apply Fiberwig Extra Long before the volumizing one due to the formulae difference. After you get your desired length, coat it generously with Lash Knockout.

Now, are you tempted to buy these products? I’m sorry, but they won’t be launched until 21st May 2010. It will be available at Sasa, Watsons, Guardian and John Little.
