No Signboard Seafood

Some time ago my sister treated me to No Signboard Seafood at The Esplanade. In my memory, No Signboard will always be that dodgy semi al fresco dining at Geylang with their hugeass neon sign. Now they have air-conditioned branches at The Esplanade, Vivocity and The Central.

Lobster salad

The lobster salad. Check out the lobster meat in the picture below! This it’s bigger than the orange slice, and it’s not even the biggest piece of lobster in the salad. This shows that they really hollowed out a lobster, and not use cheap substitute.

Next we had shark’s fin. I don’t really care at this point if you claim it’s torture etc etc to kill sharks for their fins. Seriously, have you heard a pig squel in the abbatoir? Have you seen the vegetable bleed sap when being chopped? If you’re really that morally consistent you won’t leave any panhandlers out there in the sun to starve. Just saying.

Followed by stir-fried broccoli. My sister asked me why I had to take a picture of such a mundane dish. I said I merely wanted the photos to be comprehensive.

And my favourite – oatmeal prawns. This dish was ordered a la carte on top of our set meal. The prawns were big (approximately 8cm diameter when curled up) and fresh. I love the oatmeal as well, it’s the best thing ever.

Oatmeal Prawns

And then there’s chilli crab in … chill soup? There was so much gravy I hesitate to call it gravy or sauce. It’s soup! However the chilli crab is too spicy for my taste.

Chilli crab

Seriously, I haven’t eaten a lot of chilli crab other than the ones my mum cook, so I can’t judge if this is considered good or not. All I know is that I’d choose my mum’s chilli crabs over this one any day.

While eating there, I spotted a spelling mistake on one of their menu.

Duck breas anyone?

And I have this crazy habit of playing with cherry stalks whenever I get one. It’s a perverse obsession I tell you.

the broccoli pic totally adds colour to your post! and comprehensive in a way that i know what's your fibre intake for the day. :P

i like to eat shark's fin too. once i had the 'vegetarian' version and gah it was awful. i don't fancy vegetarian food per se, but i know if the cook's good vegetarian food can taste pretty awesome.

Ya, add colours. The food are rather monotonous, now that you mentioned it. Heh.

Vegetarian sharksfin?! I'd rather you go eat glass noodles or jello or something. Sheesh.
