Remember what I was saying about being paid to blog for the digital photography post? Well, it’s not that someone out there approached me to ask me to blog, this is more like solicited business. It’s part of this blogging advertisement website called Blog Advertising Store, where members can take up offers to blog on a certain topic, meet certain requirements and be paid for it. The digital photography post was my first post and so far it has been reviewed and accepted by the website, and I earn USD10 for that. However there’s a catch – I can only cash out every USD100, so I must hit that mark before I can see my money; for now it’s still in virtual terms on the website. Whether I get duped for my effort, we’ll know when time comes.
How did I get to know this website? I simply followed the link of this other blogger who appears to be making some decent coffee money (or more) from advertising on her blog. Perhaps, just perhaps, she makes money by directing people to such websites; but I suspect not because she blogs on her personal issues as well and occasionally her stream of posts are interjected with review posts and advertising posts. But as I said previously, we’ll see how things go.
If you’re worried at this point that my blog is going to turn into this commercialised advertisement-driven monster that has lost yet more soul, don’t worry. If the previous post on digital photography is by chance any indication that my voice is still here, you can be rest assured that while I try to make some coffee money, I will stay rooted to my blogging style. I promise full disclosure too; remember the category tag “advertisement”? If you see that tag on any post, it means that I am probably paid for that. Although I won’t let being paid cloud my reviews, I still think it’s best if you know for certain whether there may or may not be a conflict of interest. Of course, all these is hypothetical; if I make it, I promise to pay back to society in my little ways.
Anyway, back to blogadvertisingstore. If you are interested in jumping in the sea with me in search of coffee money through blog advertising, and yet do not have enough visitors to convince individual sponsors to advertise on your blog, I think the review structure of blogadvertisingstore seems to be a good solution. You get paid to review, not paid for impressions or clicks, so as long as you can do a good job at reviewing, you get paid. Sure, the rate for reviewing is probably not as high as leaving an Amazon.com banner on your site for a year, think about it this way – it’s paid per post. If you have the time and creativity to blog the same topic for 10 posts, you get 10 times the listed amount. Sounds interesting? Want to read more about blogging for money? Go to that link. Don’t worry, whether you click that link or not doesn’t affect whether I get paid.
And something not entirely related – it seem that there isn’t an article on Wikipedia on Blog Advertising that I can quote. How bizarre. I thought like Youtube, you can find anything on Wikipedia. The closest to it is a short snippet on Nuffnang, that’s all. It’s strange that bloggers aren’t adding to Wikipedia about blog advertising. Perhaps we can write something there. :) Everyone has to write at least one wikipedia article once in their lives, regardless if it gets deleted after 3 days. :D
